Kingfisher Resort Courtyard
A beautiful courtyard for one of the Islands most prestigious resorts
Kingfisher Resort Courtyard Hardscaping
Location: Vancouver Island, BC
Project Type: Resort hardscaping and courtyard redevelopment
Client: Kingfisher Oceanside Resort & Spa
Project overview
The Kingfisher Resort is one of Vancouver Island’s most well-known oceanfront spa destinations. When we were brought in to complete hardscaping work within the resort grounds, the expectations were clear: the work needed to meet a luxury standard while allowing the resort to remain fully operational throughout construction.
This was not a typical residential project. Every decision had to balance design, durability, safety, noise control, and guest experience, all within an active hospitality environment.
Client goals and challenges
The resort wanted updated courtyard and pedestrian spaces that felt refined, timeless, and cohesive with the surrounding architecture and ocean setting. At the same time, the work had to be completed without disrupting guests, staff, or daily resort operations.
Key challenges included:
-
- Working around guests in an active, high-end resort environment
- Maintaining safe access routes at all times
- Limiting noise, dust, and on-site disruption
- Coordinating work in tight spaces with minimal staging area
- Delivering a finished product that matched the resort’s premium standards
Our approach and solution
Careful planning was critical on this project. We staged materials off-site wherever possible, pre-cut components to reduce on-site noise, and sequenced work to keep disruption to an absolute minimum.
Our team worked closely with resort management to coordinate schedules, access points, and safety zones. Every detail was planned in advance so the installation could move efficiently while remaining discreet.
The end result is a clean, elegant hardscape that enhances the guest experience without drawing attention to the work required to build it.
Scope of work
-
- Courtyard hardscaping installation
- Pedestrian paving and gathering areas
- Elevated slab installation on pedestal systems
- Integration with existing resort architecture
- Precision cutting and placement to minimize on-site impact
Materials used
-
- Belgard Standard Pavers
- Belgard Old Country
- Vancouver Bay slabs installed on pedestal systems
These materials were selected for durability, slip resistance, and a refined appearance suitable for a coastal resort setting.
Results
The completed courtyard spaces blend seamlessly into the Kingfisher Resort environment. The finished work feels intentional and understated, exactly what you want in a luxury spa destination. Most guests never realized construction was happening around them, which was one of the biggest measures of success for this project.
This project reflects our ability to handle complex sites, demanding standards, and high-visibility environments without compromising quality or professionalism.
Why this project matters
Projects like the Kingfisher Resort demonstrate the level of planning, craftsmanship, and accountability we bring to every job. Whether we’re working on a private residence or a well-known destination property, the expectations don’t change. The work has to be done right, safely, and built to last.
