Garden Beds

We design and install beautiful new garden beds

Garden bed and landscape bed design in Greater Victoria

Well-designed garden beds are one of the fastest ways to improve curb appeal and bring structure to a landscape. At Victoria Interlock, we design and build garden and landscape beds that thrive in Southern Vancouver Island’s coastal climate, using plants and materials suited to our long growing seasons, wet winters, and drier summers.

We work with homeowners throughout Greater Victoria and the Saanich Peninsula, creating new garden beds for fresh landscapes and revamping neglected or overgrown beds for quick, noticeable improvements. In our experience, even modest updates to garden beds can dramatically change how a property looks and feels.

New garden bed installations and bed renovations

Whether you’re starting from scratch or refreshing existing beds, our approach is the same: clean layout, appropriate plant selection, and long-term performance.

We regularly help homeowners with:

    • New garden bed installations for front yards and backyards
    • Updating tired, overgrown, or poorly laid-out garden beds
    • Improving curb appeal on older or neglected properties
    • Reworking beds around patios, walkways, and retaining walls
    • Simplifying high-maintenance planting areas

Plant choices that work on Vancouver Island

Working within Growing Zones 8 and 9, we design garden beds using plants that are proven performers in our region. Depending on the look and function you’re after, this may include combinations of:

    • Evergreen structure plants like boxwood, laurel, and cedar
    • Privacy and screening plants such as arborvitae and hedging shrubs
    • Flowering shrubs including rhododendrons, hydrangeas, and camellias
    • Perennials and groundcovers for seasonal colour and texture
    • Native and climate-adapted plants where appropriate for lower maintenance

Plant spacing, mature size, sun exposure, and soil conditions are all factored in so beds fill in naturally without overcrowding.

How we design and build garden beds

We keep the process straightforward and focused on results.

Our garden bed process typically includes:

    • On-site assessment of soil, drainage, sunlight, and existing conditions
    • Clearing out overgrowth, weeds, and failed plant material
    • Re-shaping and re-edging beds for clean, defined lines
    • Thoughtful plant layout based on mature size and visual balance
    • Proper planting depth and soil preparation
    • Finishing with bark mulch or decorative stone for a clean, finished look

For many properties, this type of reset is all that’s needed to dramatically improve the landscape.

Built for long-term performance, not just day one

Our goal is garden beds that look good now and continue to perform over time. By choosing plants suited to Island conditions and installing them properly, we reduce ongoing maintenance while creating landscapes that mature gracefully.

If you’re considering new garden beds or want to refresh existing landscape beds on your property in Greater Victoria or the Saanich Peninsula, Victoria Interlock can help design and build a solution that fits your space and your lifestyle.
