Landscape Design Services in Greater Victoria
At Victoria Interlock, we design front yards, backyards, and outdoor living spaces that actually work for life on Vancouver Island. In our experience, the best landscapes are the ones that look great, feel natural to use, and don’t become a maintenance headache a few years down the road. That’s what we aim for on every design, whether it’s a small curb appeal refresh or a complete outdoor transformation.
We provide landscape design services throughout Greater Victoria and the Saanich Peninsula, working with homeowners in Victoria, Oak Bay, Saanich, Cordova Bay, Langford, Colwood, Sidney, Brentwood Bay, and surrounding communities.
Thoughtful landscape design built for Vancouver Island
Designing landscapes on the Island comes with its own set of challenges and opportunities. Between our mild coastal climate, Zones 8 and 9 growing conditions, varied sun exposure, rocky soil, and sloped properties, no two yards are ever the same.
In our experience, successful designs start by working with these conditions instead of fighting them.
Our clients want landscapes that feel intentional and easy to live with. We often design around low-maintenance, native, and adaptive plantings where possible, focusing on durability, seasonal interest, and sensible water use. Whether the goal is color, privacy, structure, or a clean modern look, we tailor each design to suit the property and the people who live there.

Our landscape visualizer
One of the tools our clients love using early in the design process is our landscape visualizer. It doesn’t replace professional design, but it’s an excellent way to explore ideas and see what’s possible before moving forward.
Using the visualizer, you can:
-
- Select the area you want to improve, such as a front yard, backyard, or pool area
- Choose features, styles, and layout options
- Upload a photo of your actual property
Our AI design tool then generates realistic concept images directly on your photo, helping you visualize different layouts, materials, and planting styles. In our experience, this removes a lot of the guesswork and helps homeowners feel confident about the direction of their project.
Anything created with the visualizer can be refined, adjusted, and turned into a formal design plan that we can build from.
Front yard, backyard, and outdoor living design
Front yard and curb appeal design
First impressions matter. We design front yards that enhance curb appeal while staying practical and easy to maintain. This often includes entry walkways, garden bed layouts, planting design, and hardscape features that complement the architecture of the home and the surrounding neighbourhood.
Backyard and outdoor living spaces
Backyards should be places you actually want to spend time. We design outdoor living spaces that support how our clients live and entertain, including paver patios, seating areas, outdoor dining zones, and pool installations with thoughtfully designed poolside landscapes. Layout, flow, and function are always front and centre.
Garden bed and planting design
Planting design plays a huge role in how a landscape feels over time. We design garden beds with an emphasis on native and low-maintenance plants where possible, seasonal colour, privacy screening, and plant combinations that thrive in Island conditions. The goal is a landscape that matures well and stays attractive without constant upkeep.
Designing for slopes, bedrock, and challenging sites
Many properties around Greater Victoria have sloped yards, exposed bedrock, or difficult access. In our experience, these challenges often lead to the most interesting designs when handled properly.
We’re comfortable designing landscapes that work around bedrock instead of removing it, and we regularly integrate segmental retaining walls into designs to manage elevation changes and create usable space. As a certified Allan Block contractor, we design retaining walls with structure, drainage, and long-term performance in mind, not as an afterthought.
Experience and credentials you can trust
When it comes to landscape design and construction, experience matters. We are a fully licensed and insured business, an A rated and BBB accredited company, a certified Allan Block contractor, and an ICPI certified paver installer. Those credentials reflect how we approach our work, with attention to detail, proper planning, and a focus on long-term results.
